Privilege Denying Asexuals

This is a picture of Privilege Denying Asexuals
The point of this blog is the following:
1) There is no such thing as "sexual privilege".
2) Cisgender hetero* people are not queer, whether or not they are asexual.
3) "Demisexuality" is a bullshit "orientation" that is nothing more than thinly-veiled slut-shaming.
I don’t believe there is such a thing as asexual privilege. This blog’s name (and the “Asexual privilege checklist”) are a tongue-in-cheek response to the “Sexual Privilege” checklist. I know no one is going to actually acknowledge that I said this — I’ve said it a million times before after all — but it’s worth a shot.

huerca zafada: Internalized Rape Culture and the New/Old Misogyny

When I first saw this and this, my first reactions were of amused bafflement. Surely no one could seriously think the utterly unremarkable responses described were indications of a unique orientation, one so very different from that of the dirty rutting slabs of flesh who are naturally driven…

Those “meaningless little categories” are significantly more meaningful to those who actually identify as them. You don’t get to dismiss multiple sexual orientations based on your perception of two Tumblr posts.

Also, comparing asexual people to victims of child abuse, as if there’s something wrong with us, is neither necessary nor on. I promise we’ve heard it before.

Say it with me, everyone:

“Sexual orientation” refers to which gender(s) you are attracted to.

“Demi” is not a gender. The “-sexual” in the sexual orientation names refers to which gender(s) you are attracted to, not to actually feeling sexual attraction.

Sexual orientation has nothing to do with when or how often you feel sexual attraction. It only has to do with which gender(s) you are attracted to.

That is why “demisexual” is not a sexual orientation.
